Fusible Bonding Yarn
What is it?
Grilon Bonding Yarn is a low-melt multi filament yarn used for technical applications in the clothing industry worldwide. These yarns are made from either low-melt co-polyamide (nylon) or co-polyester (polyester). Yarns are produced to melt at a range of temperatures and in various yarn counts (dtex).

What does it do?

How does it work?
Grilon Combi Yarns are stitched, knitted or woven into fabric or garments. It is possible to be very exact in the use of Grilon and pinpoint precisely where it will be most effective. When the correct amount of heat is applied to Grilon Yarn, it produces a change in the molecular structure and melts.
Where is it used?
Grilon Bonding Yarn has been successfully used in the textile industry for many years. The possibilities are endless, but current uses include:
- Unidirectional weaving – to produce flat fabrics in carbon or glass fibre
- Seams – to prevent puckering
- Blind Stitching – to prevent hems ‘unraveling’
- Picot Edging – to prevent picot yarn from snagging or pulling out
- Trouser Waist Bands – replaces show and expensive sewing operations
- Work Gloves – effectively seals raw edge at cuff
- Bonded Chenille Yarn – to prevent ‘shedding’ of loose fibres
- Bonded Sewing Threads – to prevent threads ‘splitting’ during sewing

Fusible Combi Yarn is a low-melt filament yarn used for technical applications in the clothing industry worldwide. These yarns are made from low-melt co-polyamide (nylon) with a high tenacity polyester carrier thread which will not melt. Yarns are produced to melt at two temperatures and in various yarn counts (dtex).

How does it work?
Fusible Combi Yarns are stitched, knitted or woven into fabric or garments. It is possible to be very exact in the use of Fusible Combi Yarn and pinpoint precisely where it will be most effective. When the correct amount of heat and pressure is applied to the Fusible Combi Yarn, it produces a change in the molecular structure and melts to become a bonding agent leaving the carrier thread in its original form.

- Lace Making – to prevent edges of lace fraying
- Seams – to prevent puckering

- Hems (trousers, skirts, etc.) – eliminates need for sewing
- Facings – producing flat finished facings and linings in tailored garments
